Davey, DSH, Orange and White, Male
Hi. I have a bone to pick and it's not a fishbone.
I'm usually sweet and shy when I first meet somebody,
but I feel I have to get this off my he-man's chest,
excuse me please. I'll tell you my name, but it's a
long story. Do you remember the old Johnny Cash song
"A Boy Named Sue?" That could have been me
he was singing about. Just the thought of it embarrasses
me no end. Pardon me, I'm turning red.
My name. It all started when rescuers found us, me and
my two siblings, huddled together on a lonely street
in New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina was just about to
bring all of us feral animals deep trouble, so the three
of us were awfully lucky to be picked up and taken out
of harm's way before the winds tore through our neighborhood
and the levees broke. Now we were all very cute and
I was especially gentle, so much so in fact that it
led to a colossal misunderstanding at the shelter! They
called me "Daisy"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(I guess I should be glad my handle wasn't "Violet"
or "Hyacinth.")

Digger, DSH Black, Male
"Digger" is searching for Christmas this year.
He is only a small creature, a dark bundle of fur that
has never enjoyed a day free from suffering in his life.
He has simply tried with all his might to survive as
one year dragged slowly on into the next.
Digger was born into a "family" of 100 cats,
all the products of cruel inbreeding and neglect, all
the prey of constant parasites and disease, all essentially
homeless. Living without love, without even adequate
care, Digger is nonetheless the most beautiful boy inwardly.
Maybe you wouldn't care if he couldn't win the Madison
Square Garden Cat Show right now? His very sweet nature
and a little heart as brave as a storybook warrior make
him a jewel among kitties. He is without a doubt, first
prize material.
His team of doctors and all of his Spaymart friends
are very concerned that he find a true guardian (or
even a foster until he is well) as soon as possible.
Love, they know, is the finest medicine known to man-or
cats
or any of God's creatures. Given big daily
doses of love, Digger will make it!
Could YOU be THE caring, compassionate person to make
Christmas last forever for this small survivor?
"God bless us, everyone," will be his happy
ending wish for you.

Delilah, Female, DSH Tortie
Delilah and the Philistine
I'm Delilah. Even though I haven't met Samson yet,
I'm still a glamour girl and my claws can do the perfect
job on his hair. (Maybe it's better for both of us if
I never do meet Samson). My story is of Biblical proportions,
too: good versus evil, you know what I mean? It goes
like this:
I was just an innocent kitten living with my big family
in what seemed to us like the promised land for cats
(actually, the parking lot of a bunch of good guys called
"Volunteers of America"). It was an awfully
good place to colonize, because some super kind guys
called "SpayMart rescuers" got permission
from the Volunteers to feed us, IF they did it discreetly.
So we immediately agreed to join this top secret confederacy
and cooperate with their cloak and dagger methods. (Cats
LOVE cloak and dagger). We obligingly disappeared during
the day totally
I mean you couldn't see a shadow
of a whisker anywhere. And then, after the offices closed
and the parking lot emptied and we heard in the distance
the sound of a SpayMart car, we appeared like 15 or
20 little ghosts, with invisible bibs and silverware,
all lined up and ready for our daily feast.

Doyce, Female, DSH BrownTiger
Hello, my name is Doyce and my story is all about a
miracle. They DO happen, I know they do! And you will,
too, when you hear what happened to me. Im a dainty
little girl who has always loved flowers. A while ago,
I used to wander a neighborhood in Kenner, near New
Orleans, where people had the loveliest gardens. The
roses and the daisies and the petunias and the pansies
would wave gently in the breeze as if calling me to
come and play and I did. Yes, I admit that I never paid
attention to private property rights. I just saw a flowerbed
and ran right over to talk to those fragrant blossoms.
There was one particular garden that I enjoyed so much,
I kept visiting even when the gardener told me to Scat!
I just didnt think she meant it. ...
